Had a leak for over a year. We were pretty sure it was the siding/gutters. We had Home Genius come out and they were adamant it was the roof. They gave us a quote for the siding anyways and it was around $30k. We went with the roof because they must know better right? Wrong.This year we called Custom Home improvements. We asked for a siding quote and they gave us the siding quote, with a standard 30 day price. Home Genius wanted us to sign right there to lock in our price. We then later decided to add gutters before locking in with Custom Homes and they were super easy to work with. With the siding and gutters, (and a generous military discount) Custom Home Improvements was over 30% cheaper than Home Genius. Even without the discount the price was much more manageable. I am writing this during the first huge storm after the installation and my interior is finally dry.The only thing I could complain about is that it took them a while to start, although with their care for our home, I don't even mind that much.A+ priceA+ customer supportEdit: i forgot to mention our salesman was Greg, he did a great job and made us feel great about choosing Custom Home Improvement.
Custom Home Improvement recently completed installation of a new roof on our 25 year old house. We are happy with all aspects of this job. The roof looks great. The people we dealt with were all very knowledgeable and communicated well, from Jeremy and Gerry in sales to Kimberly in Scheduling. Rick, the Project Manager, has many years of experience in roofing and explained the process in detail as the work was proceeding. He also took many pictures and videos which he shared with us during all stages of work. These will continue to be accessible to us if ever needed. Rick's team of roofing installers worked very hard for long hours, and cleaned the yard up perfectly when completed. I would definitely recommend Custom Home Improvement for roofing needs.
Our experience started out with Greg Smith, who was very knowledgeable about their products and not high-pressure sales.Then we got to work with their fantastic scheduler Kimberly, who made life very easy for us with the scheduling process.We then had the pleasure of working with their roofing crew who came out on 100° dayand worked tirelessly in the heat removing our old roof and installing the new one and even stayed til 9 trying to finish it in one day but had to come back the next day to finish. It was a 40+ square roof with the 12 pitch.The project manager for the roofing crew Neil kept us informed the whole day on what was going on. The second project manager we dealt with on the second day of the roof installation was Rick who also kept us informed of what was going on. Both Rick and Neil were the upmost professionalism during our Installation.We also had trim work done with Efrin and his crew who were not only professional but very quick and getting the job done.And last, but not lease was our gutters with Dalton who did an amazing job as well.All the crews left our home the way they found it making sure all materials, trash and nails were all picked up.This company is one of the few companies still here In Hampton Roads, that believes the communication with their clients is of utmost importance.I would highly recommend this company!!!!
I had excellent service and communication from Jeremy during the estimate , Kim during the scheduling and Neil as the project manager on site during the installation.I’m more than satisfied with the professionalism of the team throughout the process!
Awesome experience again with Custom Home Improvements! We had a tree fall on the corner of our roof from a recent storm. We reached out and talked to Kimberly, who got the process started and made the entire process great. She kept in contact the entire time and made sure that we knew what was going on every step of the way. Antonio assessed the job and got us a quote within a day or so, allowing us to get our insurance claim moving. He and his team came out and got the repairs done in a day. Quality work…you can’t even tell that repairs were made to that part of the house. The gutter also needed to be replaced due to the damage; Dalton was able to squeeze us in at the end of the day and got the gutter replaced. Again, can’t even tell that work was done. He even fixed and reinstalled the plastic downspout that I installed on the old gutter to divert water away from the house…a testament to the attention to detail that you can expect from this team. We will almost certainly be returning to Custom Home Improvements for any future needs or wants that may come up!
We are 100% satisfied with the roof replacement done by Custom Home Improvement & Repairs. They showed up on time, communicated with us throughout the process and thoroughly cleaned up around our house. Rick provided step by step videos throughout the day, which was very informative. We love our new roof and the great workmanship.

From the original presentation to completion of the projects they were professional and thorough throughout the process.Efrain, Gerson, Mario and George did a tremendous job replacing our siding. The removal and installation was Very professional. When some issues with our old metal wrap on the windows, doors and garage doors was identified, they provided a solution at a reasonable additional price and completed it within the scope of the job.The roofing replacement was completed efficiently and professionally. We were provided with updates and photos/videos throughout the replacement as the job progressed.Mike Hall did a great job at explaining the process and the products for the GAF roofing and the different warranties associated with the product.He was professional throughout the meeting and we will be glad to be working with him for this job.

The Custom Home Improvement team did a great job installing our new seamless gutters, downspouts and gutter guards! Prompt communication from Mike (Sales) and Kimberly (Scheduler) kept the project moving. Dalton (Installer / circus monkey) was prompt, fast and efficient on the install day!

A shout out to Kimberly and Francisco at Custom Home Improvement. Custom Home Improvement repaired a soffit on the front of our house and also did some additional exterior work. Kimberly was very helpful in scheduling a prompt appointment. She was very professional and knowledgeable. Francisco arrived on time and was very efficient in completing the work. He was very polite and did a great job. I would recommend Custom Home Improvement for exterior work and plan to use them again in the future.
Complete TH ext. 3* due to concerns. Major: 1)CHI didn't get permits until caught. City confirmed req'd but not filed. 2)Inspections not requested until after final $ cleared. 3)CHI didn't have 1 person who understood/oversaw full scope project - diff teams/1 thing. No understanding of reason HO repeatedly asking why installs in order doing. Mentioned leak @ quote as reason for windows & again on day 1. Damage would've been found & fully accessible for repairs @ siding stage if understood & coordinated. By time @window install (last), replacing damaged wood completely not possible w/o starting over- taking off siding. Minor: 1)CHI provided no warranties/final papers when made final $. HO had to ask Lien release & affidavit. Roof warranty came within wk from GAF. CHI emailed Wk later std product warranties, but links for HO to actually register & w/o req'd info needed to do so (siding/trim/soffit/gutter,window). More HO effort/time to obtain. 2)Never heard from an owner & w/o Kim to resolve issues, would've been left hanging. Reviews by install order: ROOF: 4* Crew & PM Neil. Tarped/99.8% nails p/u. 1d job. Minor issues: 1)Quote incl 3sh OSB, but code req'd >$ Fireboard. Quoting both prepares HO for added costs. 2)Where might need wood in next steps, don't toss equiv of 2+ sheets, chg'd $260+ extra for, until whole job complete. SIDING+TRIM: <1* While love new siding, many MAJOR CONCERNS w/crew & PM. Crew tried to cut corners whenever PM Efrain not onsite (often); Crew v. disrespectful of HO; Crew didn't tarp/do well w/clean up. Majors: 1)Specifically told work from home. PM not onsite, & crew cut every service line into home (phone, fios, cable/internet) & wires/boxes tossed. Crew & PM acted like no big deal cuz made easier for them to install siding & think rewire just easy job for someone else to deal with. So, be aware: may lose services w/o warning, & days waiting on reconnect, your time/presence req'd for home re-installs, & inside outlets may be relocated as old wires tied to them can't all be accessed. While CHI fully reimbursed for service call- the major inconviences, future inside wall repairs, & missed work time was NOT fully compensated for ('unless provided them work affidavits'...self employed, WFH, asking boss to provide -good luck!). 2)HO had to call PM TWICE when service came to restore, again not onsite even when informed in adv of appt & said would be. HO's request to crew to stop installing soffit pieces, to allow service guy access, ignored by crew, prompting 1st call. Crew ignored phone directive by PM. Service guy then looked to leave, due to delay in gaining access, so would delay getting service restored -prompted irate 2nd call to PM. Crew STILL cont'd until saw PM's truck 20min after 1st call, then had to remove what did. 3) PM explained window Jch taped to house wrap to seal. So, when HO saw crew installing siding around one that WASN'T taped, questioned. AGAIN PM not there to catch. Worker reluctently stopped to look for some & found none. Not trusting, HO watched till PM came w/tape. 4)HO found 3 doors not wrapped per contract after crew left, so had to inform PM next day. 5)HO not compensated to be a PM for 2 days- that's what pd CHI to do! Minor: Crew annoyed when asked to run magnet on deck/yard again, after said already done, as still MANY nails didn't want dog stepping on. Would NOT recommend CHI for siding due to crew issues, & would NOT recommend PM Efrain. GUTTERS: 5* (Dalton) Efficient & able to reroute problem downspout. PM Neil @HO req -needed for ladder holds & to report missed items. WINDOWS: 3.5* (Chad). All work done from inside, so space clearing needed. Concern: Manufacturer install specs not followed- voiding warranty/wind rating - so req'd CHI rtn to install missing screws. Did, but stated 'not worried as CHI deals w/it' (IF still in biz!). (No permit in VABch for windows, so get by if not to spec. In FL, fail if just 1 missed of 100's). Door wraps completed. PM Mark- HO addressed missing screws @install, not corrected, req'ing the follow-up.
After getting estimate from four different companies custom Home Improvement is definitely above all. Don’t waste your time check other companies.My roof looks beautiful. I highly recommend this company!From the beginning to the end, 100% satisfied. Greg was very respectable and patient through the whole sales process. I can’t say enough about this man. I require a lot of patience as I was trying to make sure I got the best roof product warranty and the best deal combined. And I did.Everyone deserves a pat in the back including the installers. Rick was very nice and present 90% of the time through the roof installation. Kimberly, Francisco, and all the Customer Service people were very nice and easy to communicate with and especially Kimberly that had very difficult time communicating with my neighbor that I’m sharing the roof with. He had a block on his phone and Kimberly couldn’t contact him on less she contacted me first. I feel that took a lot of patience and time from her busy schedule. Chad and Dylan did excellent work installing 8 windows and a front door. The job was done well, the place was left tidy, and the work was completed quickly. Mark did an excellent job managing the job and we are very happy with the level of service received. We are proud of the finished work.
Installed a roof, 3 doors, and they also conducted warranty work on the storm door. The roof and the doors were installed within a couple weeks of the quote. The warranty work on the storm door took a little bit of time. All great work, would recommend giving them a call and getting a quote.

My wife and I couldn’t be more pleased by the work of Custom Home Improvements, Hampton Roads. In mid April Greg S. assessed my home roof and walked me through the quality of the product the company delivers, providing recommendations that lined up with my expectations. We chose to have GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles installed, All boards and Soffits wrapped in Deluxe PVC Trim, and a Gutter System by Leafguard installed. Greg even threw in a set of new shutters to match the extensive makeover we were looking for.Francisco V. was the lead contractor for the roofing and I was extremely impressed by how efficient the crew was in getting work started, discussing key install details, documenting the whole process with pictures and videos and finishing the roof installation in just 1 day.Efrain O. was the lead contractor for the PVC Trim wrap/gutter install coordination. He was able to walk me through the pieces that were removed and where new boards were installed and wrapped. His team was very fast and efficient and Efrain came over after all of the installation to ensure the quality of the product was met.Kimberly H. was the Office Production Manager and she kept me well informed of all the contractor dates and coordinated effort. Her professionalism is top notch. If there was any change in schedule or if there was a concern for timing of events she was able to handle all of my needs.I couldn’t be happier with the team and their efforts in getting my wife and I a great outcome to an investment that will be our home well into the future.

I looked around at few companies to replace my roof. I am so glad I went with Custom Home Improvements! Kimberly was sweet and answered all of my questions and when she said Neil and his team will be there at 7:30am they sure were there at 7:30am SHARP ready to go! Their financing options superior to the other companies and didn’t give me any bait and switch tactics unlike other companies I received quotes from. They even show you how your roof looks and Neil explained to me how and why the wood on my roof was in good shape! They cleaned up the area very nicely. I will be using them in the future for my siding. Can’t wait for the future projects I will be calling them to do.

My experience with this company was incredible! They just finished installing my roof today. They started a little before 7 am, and left at 7:15 pm. Kimberly (scheduling & production manager) and Neil (project manager) kept in touch with me before and during the project. Neil stayed in touch with me throughout the day updating me on what was going on. He took pictures & videos throughout the day. Though there was never a leak inside my house, Neal showed me in pictures where there were several damp spots on the sheathing, so I was glad I replaced it at this time!
Had windows/doors/roof/trim installed almost 10 years ago their work is excellent despite some issues with manufacturing quality. Mark heads the service department promptly and thoroughly addresses any service needs or repairs. Thanks!Just used this company again January 2026 for front porch railing, replacing corroded trim wrap and new gutters. Kimberly in the office is professional and fun, full of energy! Kim who replaced the trim wrap and porch railing was professional and works like a machine in 30-40 degree weather, Dylan who did the gutters out of Richmond was the most professional and thorough young contractor I ever had do gutter work, very hard working organized young man. Happy New Year!Just used this company to redo screen on replacement windows they installed over 10 years ago just normal weathering. Mark came out and personally did all 8 that had seen exposed to more direct sunlight and needed to be replaced. A year ago he also re did several second story screens. Tomorrow we are getting an estimate for changing picture windows back to double or triple windows that once again can be opened which looking back was a mistake on our part. I have yet to find a company that does the quality of work Custom Home Improvements does. Thank You!
Fantastic company in every dimension. From the time engaging until the finished roof, all efficient. All in order beginning by covering all associated landscaping with tarps, his crew made each step count, removing the old roof, disposal, inspection prior to starting the new roof installation far exceeded my expectations, treating me and my house as their own. Kimberly has made herself available to answer my questions long after the installation was complete. The install took one day to do and when finished, other than my brand new roof, you could not tell a work crew had been at my house. I HIGHLY recommend!!
